As an Afro-centered person, I was taught to look at religion, mainly the three-monotheist religion (Islam, Judaism and Christianity), with the most skeptical of eyes, and I believe this position makes much sense. It is indeed the rational thing to do. Nuwaubu help pulled me out from blind faith and opens my eyes to these monotheistic religions and their many falsehoods. In fact, Nuwaubu went much farther; defining itself as the science of “Sound Right Reason.” However, one cannot have sound reasoning if one does not have the “right knowledge” or the right information.

I was sitting in my sitting room enjoying some good old Kung Fu when my phone rang. “Did you watch the news,” said a voice on the other end. I did not ask who this was since I already knew. How could I not know; it was a harassing Christian friend who thinks that I am crazy for loosing faith, and his job he thinks, is to get me back to Christ. “No,” I said. “Well, you have to,” he replies in an enthusiastic voice. “Isn’t it funny how God works in mysterious way,” he asks rhetorically? “This story will show you how God is real,” he continues.

From the gate, God shows us how evil he can be. After the so-called creation story and assigning Adam and Eve the stipulation to go forth and multiple, God did not only shows his sever lack of scientific knowledge by referring to the mammalian bat as a bird, but express his true nature as an individual who is quite comfortable with murder and killing.

“By permitting Job to suffer unjustly, God was allowing him (Job) to learn one of the most important lessons that anyone could ever learned.” These are the words of the September – October 2009 Good News magazine an article entitled “What Job Learned by Suffering.”
First, I must admit, Sunday school was not my forte so maybe I happened to miss the Job lessons. However, I am an average reader, and the Bible is one of the many books I have read many times. Thus, I can say with certainty, contrary to what the Christian spin is, the story of Job carries no lessons for Job. On the other hand, the lesson or lessons that a true seeker of truth should deduce, as I will revel later, put another light on Job’s story.
For those who might be a little rusty concerning the Bible stories; Job is recorded to be a well-respected man. In fact, as the Bible tells us, he loved God. “This man was the greatest of all men of the east,” claims the Bible (Job: 1:1-3). Never mind Job’s goodness, this supposed great and God-fearing man was to become a pawn, a chess piece in a game played by God and his buddy, Satan.

There is no refuting that the most religious people, or people who appear to be, are the most downtrodden, the poorest or are people in deep need of help, and the people of the Philippians picking up the pieces after those two dreaded typhoons is an example of people in need. Indeed, under such heartbroken and emotionally draining times such as what the people Philippians are now facing, one normally turns first to his or her God or gods for comfort. On the other hand, many also question their God or gods competence. Why you did not protected us, they sometimes, and quite understandable, ask. These question and others like it are asked because the people possesses a deep-seated  belief, as they were told, that their God or gods promises to look-over and protect them only if they belief and have faith. However, now the time has come for the God or gods to prove what has been said of them, instead, they failed to deliver, and, why me, why me becomes the cry.
