Lessons from Job’s suffering: 11/25/2009
“By permitting Job to suffer unjustly, God was allowing him (Job) to learn one of the most important lessons that anyone could ever learned.” These are the words of the September – October 2009 Good News magazine an article entitled “What Job Learned by Suffering.” First, I must admit, Sunday school was not my forte so maybe I happened to miss the Job lessons. However, I am an average reader, and the Bible is one of the many books I have read many times. Thus, I can say with certainty, contrary to what the Christian spin is, the story of Job carries no lessons for Job. On the other hand, the lesson or lessons that a true seeker of truth should deduce, as I will revel later, put another light on Job’s story. For those who might be a little rusty concerning the Bible stories; Job is recorded to be a well-respected man. In fact, as the Bible tells us, he loved God. “This man was the greatest of all men of the east,” claims the Bible (Job: 1:1-3). Never mind Job’s goodness, this supposed great and God-fearing man was to become a pawn, a chess piece in a game played by God and his buddy, Satan. The Bible to be burned, how insensitive 10/17/2009
